Fall 2012 AAMC National Conference
This year the AAMC Annual Meeting took place on Nov. 2-7, 2012, in San Francisco. In attendance were thousands of participants including faculty, administrators, medical students, residents, and over 100 local high school students. Sessions spanned more than 12hrs each day across two convention centers. With so many different topics, seminars, and people with whom to exchange ideas, it is easy to become overwhelmed by the massive immense size of this organization, of which the OSR plays a small but integral role. For our part, your reps in attendance (Cece Zhang '13, Christopher Schilf '14, Daniel London '15) kept our finger to the pulse of the newest developments affecting the OSR and its implications for our constituent medical student colleagues back home. Below you will find various links and summaries to topics that were offered at the meeting, as well as our input on these topics. Feel free to send us an email if you have questions on a particular topic, or if any of our musing spark a new topic idea for future conferences (the next one is always less than six months away!).
2012 Annual Digest
This is the "quick-and-dirty" consolidated version of the 2012 Annual Meeting. Kudos to the OSR Communications Committee for compiling this document, as well as its fun design theme. Topics included in this document:
- Social Media in the Healthcare Setting
- E-folio Update (as this will be very important as future residents, we will try to post a more detailed update about this soon!)
- Learner Mistreatment (featuring commentary by our very own Cece Zhang)
- LGBT Education: Adequate Preparation?
- NRMP/ERAS Update
- and much more!
